At Toorak College, our Boarding House team plays an integral role in supporting each of our international and local Boarders in their academic development and personal growth.
Role and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Head of Boarding to join our vibrant school community. Working closely with the Head of Boarding, you will play a vital leadership role in supporting the holistic development of our boarding students and ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that feels like home.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the boarding house.
- Support the Head of Boarding in coaching and managing staff, rosters, and Boarding House routines.
- Provide pastoral care, mentoring and guidance to students
- Maintain high standards of student wellbeing, discipline, and academic engagement.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful boarding culture aligned with the School’s values.
- Build strong relationships with families and contribute to the wider school community.
- Run excursions and in-house activities during the weekends, including transporting students in the school minibus.
- Overnight shifts as per the Roster (weeknights and weekends.)
About You:
You are passionate about providing a memorable and unique Boarding experience and bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in a residential, pastoral care or school leadership role.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
- A calm and proactive leader, capable of managing sensitive issues with discretion.
- Committed to the development and care of young people.
- Willing to contribute to co-curricular or after-hours activities.
- Current WWCC, National Police Check and First Aid qualifications
- Working knowledge of Child Protection, National Minimum Standards for Boarding Provision ESOS Act, National Standards and Framework.
- Completion of ABSA Training advantageous
- Cultural awareness and respect to ensure your success in a multicultural environment.
- Full drivers licence and comfort in driving the school mini bus is essential.
