At Toorak College, our Boarding House team plays an integral role in supporting each of our international and local Boarders in their academic development and personal growth. 

Role and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Head of Boarding to join our vibrant school community. Working closely with the Head of Boarding, you will play a vital leadership role in supporting the holistic development of our boarding students and ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that feels like home.
Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the boarding house.
  • Support the Head of Boarding in coaching and  managing staff, rosters, and Boarding House routines.
  • Provide pastoral care, mentoring and guidance to students
  • Maintain high standards of student wellbeing, discipline, and academic engagement.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful boarding culture aligned with the School’s values.
  • Build strong relationships with families and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Run excursions and in-house activities during the weekends, including transporting students in the school minibus.
  • Overnight shifts as per the Roster (weeknights and weekends.)  
This position is predominantly term time only, including public holidays. However, additional shifts will be required during school holiday periods to be mutually agreed.

About You:
You are passionate about providing a memorable and unique Boarding experience and bring to the role:
  • Demonstrated experience in a residential, pastoral care or school leadership role.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • A calm and proactive leader, capable of managing sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Committed to the development and care of young people.
  • Willing to contribute to co-curricular or after-hours activities.
  • Current WWCC, National Police Check and First Aid qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Child Protection, National Minimum Standards for Boarding Provision ESOS Act, National Standards and Framework. 
  • Completion of ABSA Training advantageous
  • Cultural awareness and respect to ensure your success in a multicultural environment.
  • Full drivers licence and comfort in driving the school mini bus is essential.
