Our Health Services department plays a vital role in supporting the medical and wellbeing needs of our School community, with the First Aid Officer contributing to the delivery of high-quality care, timely medical support and reassurance to students, fostering a safe and responsive school environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Working alongside a full-time Nurse and reporting to the Director of Student Life, the First Aid Officer will ensure an effective, efficient, relevant and compliant health service is provided to the School to achieve the best outcomes for the health and wellbeing of all students.  Providing first aid and health care support for all students in our Early Learning Centre, Primary and Senior Schools, the successful candidate will enjoy a variety of work where no one day is the same.

Regular tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Provide first aid services and health information to assist students and staff in the participation of school life.
  • Administer medicines and drugs to students in accordance with the student's individual medical plan and School policies.
  • Contact parents/guardians/emergency contacts to inform of an accident/illness/medical treatment or if the student needs to be sent home.
  • Attend to all clinical administrative functions as completion of incident reports, treatment notes, material medical matters, training etc.
  • Ensure health data and medical records are up to date, confidential and accurately recorded.
  • Provide timely communication with staff as to medical alerts and management plans.
  • Conduct regular audits of first aid equipment and supplies, ordering when required.
This ongoing part-time position is required 5 days per week, 9:30am to 2:30pm - during school terms only. Prospective candidates should be aware that the days and hours for this position are not negotiable, and the annual salary is adjusted to reflect the number of weeks worked in the school year.

About You:
You may have experience supporting students, particularly girls, in a similar school-based role, or bring a strong First Aid background gained within community or healthcare settings. In either case, you will demonstrate well-developed administrative and customer services skills to effectively support the needs of students within a school environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate well to all staff, students and parents.
  • A caring, reliable, patient manner, sensitive to students' health and cultural needs.
  • Strong digital capability - including Google Workspace and health systems, plus the ability to adopt new technologies while maintaining accurate reporting, high standards of data security and confidentiality.
  • Experience in delivering professional, engaging first aid training, using a variety of platforms (Zoom, Google Slides, PowerPoint etc) for large staff groups.
  • A warm professional and calm demeanour with the capacity to multitask in high pressure situations.
  • Current First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012), Level 2 First Aid Certificate (HLTAIDO11), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009).
  • Have completed a course in Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness (1070NAT).
  • Asthma Awareness and First Aid Management.
  • Diabetes Management Training.
  • Mandatory Reporting Certification.
  • Current Working With Children Check (Employee), or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
