Role and Responsibilities:
We see our Junior School Library as a vibrant hub of learning and connection for students from ELC to Year 6. The Library Technician will play a key role in supporting our Junior School students and staff by ensuring access to curriculum-aligned resources while fostering a love of reading, discovery and lifelong learning.
  
In a creative and inspiring library space, the Library Technician will:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations and programs within the Junior School Library.
  • Support students and staff with library resources, including book loans, returns and catalog inquiries.
  • Provide services in physical and virtual access to information, including the curation and maintenance of resources and collections.
  • Assist with library events and reading programs to promote literacy and engagement.
  • Ability to use initiative, work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Provide before and after school supervision to students.
This part-time contract position is for two days per week, Thursday and Friday,  during school terms only. It concludes on December 11th 2025.

Prospective candidates should be aware that the annual salary is adjusted to reflect the number of weeks worked in the school year.

About You:
You are digitally savvy, capable and collaborative, with a passion for fostering literacy, learning, and discovery. Experience supporting diverse student needs is considered advantageous.
  
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification in Library and Information Studies (Diploma), and eligibility for ALIA membership.
  • Prior experience working in a school library or similar setting is advantageous.
  • Strength in navigating online databases and Library Management Systems 
  • Excellent communication skills and strong ability to connect with and motivate students.
  • Valid Working with Children Check – Employer
